Not a late response, criticism is never bad to have around. Can't agree more about 2042 being a failure. It honestly is, and I'm not defending the end product at all. With this video I wanted to state that it finally started to show some potential with these patches, but EA did the usual dirty thing and closed the support for it. It ended just like Battlefield V, a pathetic failure that will be remembered as a disgrace to the whole franchise. From the day they announced Operators, the red flags were there. EA fixed it for a bit, but that was basically it. Yes I do believe myself the game was rushed, with information about it initially starting out as a Battle-Royale making sense the more you dig deeper into its game design mistakes. Hazard Zone was the biggest fail, and I can't believe they seriously considered that it would succeed. They already had Firestorm with Battlefield V, which worked properly. Can't believe they didn't take that thing and improve it for the new entry. I belive that EA wanted to do the Call of Duty approach, by having annual releases in Battlefield franchise. Seems logic if you look at it, 3 studios working on the experiences: Ridgeline, Ripple Effect and DICE. Eventual conflicts of interests had Ridgeline Games closed and booted off, DICE being neutered and most original employees leaving, and Ripple Effect now trying to pull everything back together. EA are delusional, always trying to bring a "new experience" to Battlefield, when everyone is screaming at the top of their lungs that all the community needs is a Battlefield 3 Remaster, Bad Company 3, and a Battlefield 4 remake with new setting. Unfortunately, they are so far gone in delusions, this led to Battlefield become a laughing stock with last 2 releases. Oh and you bet Live Service will remain, I have a feeling it will be even worse with the next one.

Can't blame Fortnite for doing their thing, but you can definitely blame EA, Activision and many other publishers taking this idea and having no idea how to implement it properly. Warzone was a success, only to go down the toilet with recent years like Modern Warfare 3. Monetization tactics made these publishers go crazy, but they are too incompetent to integrate battle-passes into their existing games.

Battlefield is not Battlefield without a class system. This was ingrained in its roots, and made players interact with each other to produce teamplay. Assault heals, Support provides, Engineer repairs and Recon scouts. 2042 on launch with Operators was a knock off Black Ops 4 that absolutely failed in trying to make proper teamplay. That's why everyone wanted the Class system back, to restore the balance of power between these 4 concepts. Why would anyone use RPG's or C4, when you can equip a medkit and an ammo bag with a single operator? Give all 64 players on the map this kind of kit, and there will be no teamwork, just lone wolves doing their thing. I get what you say though, having an RPG with Mackay was cool. If DICE properly designed the game, operators would've fit properly in the class system. Instead, it's still a pathetic sight to look at. Even now.

The maps were pure trash on launch. When you started playing Battlefield 2042 in 2023, DICE has reworked and improved a lot of maps to the point where now they are enjoyable. Previously these had no covers, no war-time elements like military vehicle wreckage, and various design problems. Playing on 128 players, the game became a running simulator, at times taking 5 minutes to reach a control point, with everyone concentrating solely on a single point of interest. DICE remade the maps, and cut the player size in half (64) to make them enjoyable again. At launch the game was a concoction attempting to fit multiple trends in itself. And yes, every single character was pure trash then too. Couldn't stand their speeches, now they work I suppose

Agreed. Only some moments of my gameplay in 2042 felt like Battlefield. Everything else felt like a weird clone for Call of Duty with bigger maps and darker setting.

Happened the same to me. After seeing the news of support being closed, I recorded some final rounds of gameplay to make this video. Now I'm back to playing Battlefield 1 with my brother, even if I hate its game design. DICE really nailed the atmosphere and immersion with it.

@@ethanbradberry5224 Not the setting itself, it's how they made the class system, the gunplay, customization and map design. With Battlefield 1 DICE destroyed the symbiosis of classes by giving all explosives to Assault, crippling the Medic with self-loading rifles only, and making nearly all LMG's useless trash for Support. This increased the grenade spam a lot, and everyone mostly picked Assault class since it has the only good automatic weapons in the game. Gunplay and customization was also downgraded, instead of attachments now there are only weapon variants, and a couple of legendary, skins unlike previous games. Map design problems started with it too, a lot of empty fields like Galicia, Lupkow Pass and Heligoland Bight have been added. Those are a nightmare to play as infantry, and even vehicles at times.

US was a faction in the base game, in Argonne Forest and Ballroom Blitz you can play as Americans. I agree with the Asian front however, it was a missed opportunity. Even Eastern Front itself was a missed opportunity in Battlefield 1, would've been cool to see some fights take place in the Balkans. After all, the whole deal started there with the first domino to fall being Franz Ferdinand. Can't say the game doesn't feel complete though. The DLC's made the game a completely experience. Unlike Battlefield V, where it became the first World War 2 game without Eastern Front. Even African Front, there were at best 2 maps to feature fights on that continent.

And I'm glad you didn't play that World War 2 thing. From start to finish it was a pathetic failure, only to grow some attention by attempting to recreate 1942's atmosphere, then it's support to be cut shortly after. 2042 more or less followed the same path, but with 10x worse launch.

Didn't missed out much, the pacific was cool, and there was a few neat ideas, but BF1 absolutely rekt bfV

The trailer was pure nostalgia bait, and it fooled me proper when I watched it first time. Bad news started coming soon after, with Specialists and modes that weren't really fit with Battlefield-style gameplay. Like Tom Henderson shared, the development of 2042 was a disaster, them changing concepts on the fly that basically ruined the vision and made it the Frankenstein we saw at launch. The launch state is inexcusable, the game should have been delayed by a year following that disastrous Beta. I did enjoy the cross system with on the run customization, I've wanted this feature in Battlefield for a really long time. About learning from mistakes we have to wait and see. They learned nothing when it comes to cancelling the support for their products. Just like Battlefield V, they pulled the plug on 2042 too early. The next game is far away, and the content starvation will kill the playerbase once again.

Yes I agree but I'm still hopeful that maybe it'll be good but being optimistic with EA is tough with all things they've done in the past and present with their games. I can't even play 2042 anymore cuz my computer blue screens whenever I launch it and I've still had no success in fixing the issue and it's only for 2042 any other battlefield or game works so I guess I'm fortunate in that sense.

Maybe something decent will release next, I'll be on a look out for it. 2042 also crashes my system, it either locked up my system or completely blue screens the PC. It still has some technical issues to this day, and even high end PC's like mine won't escape from crashes. I hope with upcoming patches it will be playable on your system

They just need more optimization and they need to stop adding huge things without having proper testing then we wouldn't have issues like this after the game has been out for a year or two. It'd be nice if they have the game functional and then add stuff as the life cycle of the game continues

Even if 2042 is a failure, I found potential after so many patches. DICE finally had a vision for the game, and the support being cut short with Season 7 has completely sealed its fate. Agreed with the player count of Battlefield 4 and 1, those games are doing well many years after their support has ended. EA at least does the bare minimum to have those games working properly. I myself been recently enjoying the World War 1 entry. As much as I hate its game design, it does generate some fun times

I've featured my face before in streams and previous uploads. Thanks for the compliments. Portal has to be the biggest waste of potential, the idea is excellent. Sadly, its support was dropped before it could show itself. Trends chase has done immense damage to Battlefield, all thanks to EA's greed

@@ChrisTGamingZone my only logic in why it was dropped was they can’t make extra money off it like they can in the base game. So they stopped supporting it.

@@SilverEvans It's much simpler really. Ripple Effect saw how bad the fundament of 2042 was in its launch state, that they decided it wasnt worth adding new content to Portal. EA might come in play since 2042 was a giant flop, with everyone trashing the game on launch. Can't believe that DICE only concentrated on 1/3rd of the whole package, yet barely can add a map with each new season. And I thought they were lazy with slow DLC releases during Battlefield 1

Truth. Once something perishes it never comes back to life. Unfortunately that's what happened to the formula that Battlefield 3 and 4 had. EA has fooled me twice, now I've learned my lesson.

I've gave 2042 a try and I really enjoyed it. Until the news of cancelled support crushed any interest I had like Battlefield V. Will be watching what EA will attempt to do with the 2025 game, but I have no hype or any serious attitude about the franchise. The leaks suggesting a free Battle Royale comes with it completely faded away any hopes to see a game like Battlefield 3 or 4. @@gw1814 I can't deny his frustration. I myself hated a couple of games, yet still gave them a fair chance to prove me wrong. I've changed my opinion on Battlefield 2042 after playing it recently, and I can definitely say I enjoyed it far more than the trashfire Battlefield V was (and still is). Considering that it's been nearly 7 years since this franchise had a game out without lies, fake marketing and technical problems, I can't blame him on giving up.

@@gw1814 yep the worse type of gamer, pay good money for a game, minimal content, shit optimisation, features we didn't want, then get the game to a playable state, then stop support. I call this out and that is the worse type of gamer, well if it is, I will proudly accept that title.

2042 trailers were hard nostalgia bait, only to deliver a shell of what was shown in the marketing. And once again, like Battlefield V, when the game was fixed and improved with patches and seasons of content, it started to show potential for something good. Only to be cancelled and fade into oblivion as if the previous disaster didn't nearly bury Battlefield itself. I agree with the lawsuit part, EA was really close to having a legal fight with the release of 2042, and the promised 4 seasons had to be delivered. But yes, the release was pathetic and was worth trashing, even today. I hate the fact that DICE can barely push a map across 3 months of the season developments, when back in the DLC days they would drop 4 maps with tons of content without any issues. Live Service doesn't work when it comes to support here. I consider Battlefield 1 to be start of the downfall, that game was a severe downgrade to game mechanics and content, only having the visuals and immersion nailed. We'll have to wait and see what the 2025 game will show, but I don't believe for a second that EA won't mess it up with some microtransations or trends chase

Thanks for tuning in man. My first Battlefield was also BF2, stumbled upon it in an internet cafe. And ever since I've basically played every single one, ending with the recent 2042 travesty. Battlefield 4 was the last proper game in the franchise before it went downhill with World War 1 game, where it became casual-ified and barely featuring any content. Afterwards it's just a tragic story that I've retold in the video. Happy that you agree with me, I had the itch to make a commentary about the situation, and looks like the message resonates

Can't agree more. I myself moved on to Insurgency, Fortnite and even tried Battlebit. Battlefield 2 mods and older games haven't vanished anywhere, so those are also great picks. EA's incompetence can be studies for generations, taking a successful franchise and running it to the ground requires real idiotic choices.

@@ChrisTGamingZone Thanks to your older videos - I discovered lots of great BF2 mods. I still got BF2 on my USB stick - play it regularly. Older shooters never went anywhere but that goes without saying. Even BF2 on the PS2 has online - game nights on their Discord and all.

Custom maps have been made in Venice Unleashed, I've seen a couple of custom maps but sadly I didn't play them during this stream. Sadly you can't make new weapons and add new assets to the game, but Battlefield 3 has enough content to make something interesting like Battlefield 2 mods :D

Thanks Existenz, I've been teasing it for a long time but only recently I finally ramped up the production! Really wanted to return by October but my soul crushing job was draining me completely. @@ChrisTGamingZone I have mine running but the damn thing crashes on some maps which is a very big shame.

I have had the same problem in mods. Some crashed when selecting different maps, depends if the developer fixed the problems via a patch or if the game settings are low. Usually its a bug that makes the game crash

@@ChrisTGamingZone well. I used to set the grapgics to low but lately i've set it thw graphics to high settings but resolution is the lowest either 800x600 or slightlg higher.

Then it most likely has to do with the mod having bugs. That's my closest bet. Will have to check for those problems soon since Heat of Battle is planned for a replay in near future
